Job Description
We're a small startup tackling huge business problems, looking for an *exceptional* Java software engineer with an excellent work ethic, a religious focus on quality, and an open mind. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, able to work independently, and is capable of solving complex technology problems and implementing practical solutions.
mohchi provides a consolidated online marketplace and venue for small, local, brick-and-mortar businesses to establish professional online, e-commerce presence without any upfront costs or the need for technical expertise, while making their inventories systematically available for search by neighborhood shoppers. As part of the overall product, mohchi provides strategic, value-added business services to help expand customer reach, improve operational efficiency, increase business revenues.
As a core member of the development team, the candidate can look forward to working on a variety of unique and challenging projects. Our current and planned projects include revamping our search engine to improve search results, enhancing performance of real-time search indexing, helping to scale our systems to support massive amounts of traffic and data, crunching large datasets, and implementing beautiful and intuitive user interfaces for web/mobile devices.
Responsibilities
=======================================
- Work closely with the rest of the mohchi team to deliver new features and improve existing ones
- Write, test, and maintain elegant, efficient, and pragmatic front-end and back-end code
- Leverage the latest open-source projects to efficiently grow the platform and create/maintain a few of our own
- Take ownership of entire features and services
- Constantly look for ways to improve the user experience
Requirements
=======================================
- Unparalleled expertise in Java, Servlets, JSP, HTML, CSS, Javascript
- Working knowledge of Java EE, Springframework, UNIX, mySQL, mongoDB, caching, search indexing
- Experience integrating with a wide array of back-end technologies and services, e.g. AWS
- Ability to plan and create effective software designs and architectures
- Strong communication skills
- Passion for learning and teaching
- At least three (3) years of experience doing relevant work (to all the points above)
Nice to Haves

- Experience with mobile application development
- Previous involvement in e-commerce platform development
- Teach us a few things during the technical interview
Education

B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science or the equivalent
Compensation
